SELF-PORTRAIT

While I was shaving recently I stopped and took a real good look at myself. This isn’t something that I do very often–as I suspect most people don’t–because we all know what we look like. For this reason we take our appearance for granted. What I noticed when I took a real good look at myself was something I knew was happening and had not properly examined or realised: not only was I getting older (as we all do since life only goes in one direction) but I was aging. My eyelids had dropped significantly, wrinkles and lines were more noticeable and my nick was starting to resemble that of a Kosmodo dragon. Not so surprising really: I’m in my 83rd year. So, I grabbed a canvas, a brush and a paint tube, took it into the bathroom and outlined my face with all of its deterioration. It now hangs next to a self-portrait of myself that I sketch-painted 20 years ago; and is on the home page of this website.

I don’t suppose anyone will want to purchase the original painted copy of the artwork. But, in case you do, for an investment of AUD$1000 you can have the artwork on your walls within 12 weeks of placing your order. Place your order here: message me

Alternatively, if you reside in Victoria Australia, we can make arrangements for you to visit my studio in Williamstown to view and to purchase the artwork.
