The four paintings below are each at what used to be a popular swimming, picnicking and dining on a boat ‘La Grenouillere’ after which each of the works are named. The first three paintings are by Monet and originally painted in oils; but here, painted using watercolour/gouache. Interestingly, the third of the three (painted in colors similar to those used by Monet) was copied by me from a blurry black and white photograph of the original Monet’ work which was destroyed during WWII.

The fourth watercolour/gouache painting below was painted by Renoir at the same time as the three Monet works. Renoir and Monet sometimes painted together, almost side-by-side, hence the similarity of the work.
