This was a memorable holiday destination primarily because of the luxury 5 star hotel we staying in. The Hospes Palacio del Bailio is an historic 16th-century palace featuring an ancient 1st-century Roman villa and mosaics preserved directly beneath the glass floor of its main dining room, the Arbequina Restaurant. The hotel also had the pool I am seen relaxing in, a courtyard quadrangle where we enjoyed a candelit dinner on a warm summer’s night. The temperature averaged 35C for the entire stay. Another night we watched a performance of flamenco dancing at Banoss Arabes Santa Maria which only sits sixteen patrons. We had great fun too visiting the Roman bridge and tower, Mezquita Mosque/Cathedral and strolling through the old town alive with flower-filled pots and balconies.
