Who is Deej?

Derek Kosbab was born on 5th November 1942 in Richmond (but not the one he remembers so well growing up in) but in Richmond, Surrey, England. He emigrated to Australia in 1952 with his parents and his brother Michael. After a short period living in Tasmania, the Kosbab’s settled in Melbourne’ living and working in Richmond, Victoria.

Derek studied and became a very good ballroom dance teacher. He opened ABC Dance School in Knox, then ran ABC Fancy Dress hire from the same location. He then spent 13 years in the not-for-profit sector delivering state and commonwealth funded employment and training programs.

Derek started painting in his teens and has painted on and off for most of his adult life. Derek holds a PhD in Professional Education and Training and is also an accomplished Spanish guitarist.
